We are currently looking for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer in the Rochester, NY area.
This position will report to Project Manager and Chief Engineer
Execute multiple projects simultaneously, with only moderate supervision
Participate in the development of work assignments and demonstrate independence by completing assignments without detailed instructions
Participation in cross functional teams



Main Responsibilities:


Mechanical design of piping and pumping for wastewater, biogas, aeration, and chemicals
Conducts feasibility studies, determines manpower and cost estimates, and develops engineering criteria for assigned projects
Sizing, specifying, and selecting equipment including: pumps, compressors, blowers, screens, and other wastewater treatment components
Technical review of vendor and contractor submittals
Guidance and oversight of construction, installation, startup and commissioning of equipment and treatment works
Interface with plant operators to provide technical support

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent in mechanical, environmental or chemical engineering preferred
Three to five years of relevant work experience in the wastewater treatment industry
Design of piping and pumping systems
Design and construction of wastewater and/ or industrial works
Sizing and selecting equipment
Basic understanding of valve types, heat exchangers, boilers, mixers and rotating machinery
Ability to travel occasionally

Preferred Qualifications
Contractor oversight, Plant commissioning, Equipment procurement experience
Experience with biological wastewater treatment
Controls and instrumentation experience
Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Excel for engineering calculations
