As Distribution Manager you are a key player in the supply chain organization and will work with all functional areas of the supply chain including planning, procurement, finance, etc. The successful candidate must be a self-directed achiever and great leader. You will drive three warehouses to improve safety, service, quality, & metrics.
Our Joliet, IL distribution center is at the core of our business supplying 60% of our North America distribution centers. Succeeding in this role will lead to broader responsibilities in the company - expect to relocate for promotion & career growth.
Main Responsibilities:
·Communicates & collaborates effectively. Develops vision. Drives and empowers team to embrace vision and continuous improvement. Provides safe working environment.
·Drives processes, standards, & metrics. Directs inventory control, warehousing, transportation, logistics planning, order processing & customer service. Maintains expert user-level status on Ecolab systems. Reports performance. Complies with EHS & Regulatory standards.
·Improves service levels for inventory control, days on hand, forecasting, deployment, warehousing, warehouse space, transportation, logistics planning, order processing, delivery execution, & exception management.
·Improves customer service. Addresses quality, service & cost issues to enhance satisfaction. Works with others to avoid & resolve logistics service issues. Acts as escalation contact or subject matter expert.
·Audits or establishes service at customer sites.
·Collaborates with internal contacts & key vendors on Key Performance Indicator initiatives.
·Fosters relationships to manage key vendor performance in inventory control, warehousing, transportation, fleet operations, logistics planning, inventory planning, order processing & customer service.
·Develops standards, metrics, processes & practices. Generates & implements ideas that improve safety, cost, service, quality, performance &/or compliance. Advises management on logistics innovations for a competitive advantage.
·Supports budgeting to improve year over year performance. Identifies & manages implementation of approved logistics, IT, network redesign &/or capital projects.
·Works with manager to on TQM. Analyzes & reports data. Identifies & implements Lean Six Sigma practices; champions concepts to team.
Basic Qualifications:
·Accredited 4-year degree in Business, Logistics Engineering, or Transportation with 10+ years experience in shipping, receiving, warehousing, & inventory control systems in high-SKU manufacturing; minimum 2 years supervisory experience.
·Knowledge of financial measurements of logistics.
·Capital management experience.
·Strong computer literacy & demonstrated use of technology to improve logistics performance.
·Demonstrated leadership & communication skills; fluency in English.
·Tactical & strategic thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
·Advanced degree.
·Experience in a related industry & managing a chemical supply chain in related functional areas, acquisition integration & Lean, Six Sigma, 5S.
